Spring / Summer
training is Thursday evenings at 18.00 pm at
the Airport playing fields, just outside Middleton
St George.
We finished the season in 5th place which hopefully
will be enough to gain promotion but we will have to
wait and see.
With the 2009 – 2010 season over we now turn our
attention to the forthcoming summer tournaments. We
are at Blackpool 22nd and 23rd
of May, Bishop Auckland on the 5th June,
Darlington Allstars on 6th June, Greatham
on 13th June, Mount Pleasant on 20th
June, Spraire Lads on 2nd July, and our own
tournament at the Education Village on the 18th
July. There will also be one more on August 21st at
Redcar Town, as well as a few friendlies along the
way.
Thanks also to everyone who has supported the team
this year, I know the lads really appreciate it and
so do I. I would particularly like to thank those
parents who have weighed in with lifts etc for the
kids when they’ve needed it as it is this kind of
support that keeps the team running. Thanks also to
Wayne for all his help this season and to Anne for
the supply of home cooked pies.
Very well done to everyone this past season
especially to our individual award winners Will
Hughes, Cain James, and Robin Hall.
Will Hughes took the award for Manager's Most
Improved Player this year for his fantastic
performances on the left wing and in goal earlier
this season before Andy MacNab arrived. When the
team needed someone to step up, Will was there when
on one else wanted to do the job and pulled us
through a difficult time with some fantastic
performances.
Cain James was voted Player's Player of the Year.
Cain is an incredibly talented player and has had a
fantastic season winning Man of the Match more times
than any other player. Cain joined us
from Mount Pleasant last summer
and has never looked back. He is, without doubt, one
of the best players I have ever seen, and has a
confidence and versatility that allows him to be at
home anywhere on the football pitch.
Robin Hall won Manager's Player of the Year. Robin
is a truly exceptional centre back who just keeps
getting better and better. He has the whole package,
speed, skill, strength, determination, pride,
stamina, and a genuine desire to improve as a player
with every match and training session. I have never seen Robin give anything less
than 100% whether that be in a competitive match or
at training and as a direct consequence of
that, he has gone from being a good player to a
great player, renowned in the TJFA, and a centre
forward's nightmare.
Those lads who did not bring their photos, sign
on fee etc last week please bring them to training
this Thursday as I need to complete the sign on
process as soon as possible. Also, subs for August
are now due. Can everyone who pays cash monthly
please bring the money to training this week.
Thanks. Andy
