Middleton Rangers U13s V TIBS B U13s

Middleton Rangers u13 had a tough start to life in the third division against Tibbs b. Rangers took the lead early on when Danny Kay followed up a Jack Copper shot which had bounced back off the crossbar, but Tibbs quickly equalised. Rangers were playing some nice football but without the finishing cutting edge but it was Tibbs who took the lead before half time. The second half again saw Rangers start brightly but Tibbs went further ahead when speculative long ball deceived the Rangers keeper. Rangers kept on battling but as in the first half they failed to convert their chances and it was no surprise when Tibbs broke away scored a fourth. Final score 1-4. Rangers Man of the Match was Kyle Lakin who battled hard from start to finish.

Nunthorpe U13s V Middleton Rangers U13s

Rangers took on 1st Division opposition in the form of Nunthorpe for a 1st round league cup tie but it was not to be their day. An uncharacteristically below par performance meant that the game got away from them. On the positive side, Tyler Wilson and Rhys King got on the scoresheet, while Tom Snowdon picked up the Man of the Match award. The boys will be working very hard in training to turn things around and we look forward to a better showing in the Challenge Cup.

South Park Rangers U13s V Middleton Rangers U13s

Middleton Rangers U13s were away at South Park Rangers Reds and came away with a superb 5-1 win. The early stages were fairly even but once Rangers went in front their confidence grew and they played some excellent football and were three up at half-time through a fantastic free kick from Will Bickerton, Jake Charlton and Jack Cooper. The second half started with South Park pressing but Rangers defended well and Danny Kay put them further ahead but South Park pulled one back before Tyler Wilson scored Rangers fifth. The whole team were awarded man of the match as each individual had an outstanding game.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U13s V Middleton Rangers U13s

Rangers u 13 were away to Newton Aycliffe Youth in the Challenge cup and started the brighter of the two teams. Jake Charlton scored from outside the box to put Rangers ahead and this was followed by a Rhys King penalty and a Tyler Wilson header before Aycliffe got one back before the break. The second half saw Aycliffe start brightly but the game was won when Jack Cooper broke clear to score Rangers fourth. Kyle Lakin had a good game for Rangers but the excellent Cameron Stephenson just pipped him for man of the match. Final score 4-1.

Middleton Rangers U13s V Darlington TSC U13s

Middleton Rangers u13 played host to local rivals Darlington TSC. Playing against the wind in the first half Rangers were on the back foot for most of the half as TSC took a deserved five goal lead before the break. Rangers changed tactics in the second half and playing with the wind started to get on top. Jake Charlton got one back from the penalty spot before Will Bickerton got a second. Rangers continued to press and Ross Hamilton got Rangers third before Will Bickerton scored a fourth. The game was now on a knife edge as Rangers pushed for an equaliser. In the last minute a Jake Charlton free kick came crashing back off the crossbar and TSC held on for a 5-4 win. Man of the match for Rangers was Ross Hamilton.


16/10/11

Middleton Rangers u 13 travelled to Coulby Newham for a league game. Rangers started well and were putting Coulby under pressure and it was no surprise when a Kyle Lakin through ball was finished well by Ross Hamilton. Rangers continued to try and play passing football on what was a very tight pitch and a Rhys King shot was followed up by Jack Cooper to put Rangers two up at half time. Coulby came more into the game in the second half and they pulled a goal back. Rangers defence coped well with the long high balls Coulby were throwing at them and they had a few chances on the break to go further ahead but the final score was 2-1 to Rangers. New keeper Matty Ellis had an excellent debut and was duly awarded man of the match.

Middleton Rangers u13 travelled to Billingham Synthonia u13 and after a even opening ten minutes Rangers took control of the game and Ross Hamilton put them one up. Kane Gamble scored two more goals before half-time to give Rangers a comfortable 3-0 lead. Rangers rotated their squad in the second half and continued to attack with a Rhys King free kick putting Rangers four up. Rangers fifth was goal of the game when Jack Cooper floated a cross for Tyler Wilson to place a superb header in the corner of the net. Final score 5-0 with Jake Charlton being award man of the match for an industrious performance in the centre of midfield.

Middleton Rangers u 13 hosted Spraire Lads in a well contested local derby which Rangers won 2-0. Rangers started brightly and put Spraire on the back foot with Tyler Wilson, Ross Hamilton Jack Cooper and Kane Gamble all going close to putting them in front. Rangers finally broke the deadlock when man of the match Jake Charlton headed in a Rhys King corner. Spraire came more into the game in the second half but Rangers had the more clear cut chances. The game was finally wrapped up in the last couple of minutes when Danny Kay scored Rangers second.

Middleton Rangers u13 came away from Tibbs B with a very impressive 3-2 victory in the Challenge cup. The game was played at a fast pace with both teams trying to play good football. Rangers were first to score when a Rhys King corner was superbly headed in by man of the match Kyle Lakin, but Tibbs equalised before Jack Cooper broke clear and put Rangers 2-1 up at half time. The second half saw Tibbs attack Rangers from the off and they got a second equaliser. This spurred Rangers on a superb Ross Hamilton shot came crashing back off the woodwork before Jack Cooper crossed and a Tibbs defender trying to clear put through his own goal to give Rangers victory. Other notable performances for Rangers were centre backs Rhys King and Will Bickerton and central midfielders Jake Charlton and Tom Snowden.


13/11/11

Middleton Rangers u 13 played away at Normanby and played some of their best football of the season in the first half .Rangers quick passing football meant that they were camped in the Normanby half and were unlucky on numerous occasions not to take the lead. The Normanby defence was finally broken when man of the match Jake Charlton weaved his way through to score in the bottom corner. Kane Gamble then headed in superbly to put Rangers two up at the break. The second half saw further goals from Tom Snowden and Jack Cooper to put Rangers four up. Normanby scored what we thought was a consolation goal with ten minutes to go but two long punts up the field resulted in a further two goals for Normanby to make the score 4-3 in what was a game that Rangers should have won more convincingly.

Middleton Rangers u13 played a very spirited South Park Rangers Red who battled right till the final whistle but were convincing winners by a final score of 11-1. Rangers played some very good football and the goals came at regular intervals. Scorers for Rangers were Tyler Wilson (2), Owen Rogers, Will Bickerton, Man of the Match Rhys King, Kyle Lakin, Jake Charlton, Jack Cooper, Kane Gamble, Jack Parker and Danny Kay.


27/11/11

Middleton Rangers u13 played away at Skelton in what was a clash of the top two in the table. Rangers started the better of the two teams and a number of good saves by the Skelton keeper kept Rangers at bay. Rangers finally broke the deadlock when a long range effort from man of the match Tom Snowden appeared to have crossed the line before the alert Tyler Wilson followed up to make sure. The second half started with Skelton coming more into the game and a long range screamer from their centre forward gave Rangers keeper Matty Ellis no chance and the scores were level. Both teams went for the winner with Rangers Will Bickerton and Ross Hamilton forcing excellent saves from the Skelton keeper. Final score 1-1 in which the game was a credit to both sets of players and to the match official.


11/12/11

Middleton Rangers u 13 hosted a spirited Billingham Synthonia side in a league match. Rangers were dominant for most of the game and convincingly won 11-2. First half goals came from Jack Cooper (2) Kane Gamble and a screamer from Kyle Lakin to give them a four goal cushion. The second half saw further goals from man of the match Jake Charlton (3). Ross Hamilton(2) one of which was a superb individual effort, Danny Kay and Tom Snowden


08/01/12

Middleton Rangers hosted Redcar Athletic in the quarter finals of the Challenge cup and had the more clear cut chances in the opening exchanges. Rangers did take the lead when Will Bickerton scored direct from a free kick outside the box ,and they doubled it before half time when an excellent through ball by man of the match Jake Charlton saw Jack Cooper lob the goalkeeper. The second half saw Redcar try to get back into the game but Rangers defence held firm .Rangers were the awarded a penalty which Rhys King converted and the Kane Gamble beat a couple of men before slotting in a fourth. Rangers then made three substitutions and one of them Danny Kay scored an excellent fifth goal. Redcar did score a consolation goal before the end but Rangers ran out comfortable 5-1 winners against a side one division higher. Superb performance from everyone today.

Middleton Rangers u13 hosted Coulby Newham and put in their poorest performance of the season going down 2-0 .Rangers failed to capitalise on playing with a strong wind in their favour in the first half and Coulby made them pay when they went in front from a well taken free kick. Rangers with only the bare eleven players switched players into different positions in the second half but failed to break down a well organised defence and it was no surprise when Coulby doubled their lead. Goalkeeper Matty Ellis made three fine saves to keep the score down and Tom Snowden had an outstanding game and was awarded man of the match.

Middleton Rangers u13 hosted Stockton Town in a league game and came out 2-0 winners. The game was competitive from the start and it was Rangers who went closest when a Tyler Wilson effort came back off the crossbar. Rangers took the lead when a Rhys King corner was superbly headed in by man of the match Kyle Lakin. Stockton tried to force their way back into the game but there were no further goals before half time. Rangers started well in the second half and Jack Cooper broke through to give Rangers a two goal lead. Stockton tried to respond but Rangers defended well and were unlucky not to go further ahead when efforts from Jack Cooper and Ben I,Anson hit the post.


26/02/12

Middleton Rangers u13 played away in a local derby against Spraire Lads and were quick off the blocks when they took a first minute lead when Tyler Wilson scored after a Jack Cooper shot had come back off the post. Rangers were finding it tough playing on a tight pitch and Spraire equalised when Rangers failed to clear their lines. Rangers quickly went back in front when Ross Hamilton was played through and he coolly beat the advancing keeper. The second half saw Rangers apply alot of pressure on the Spraire goal but the third goal didn't come till near the end when man of the match Will Bickerton headed in a Rhys King corner to make the final score 3-1.


11/03/12

Middleton Rangers u13 played away at Stockton Town and came out on top 3-2 in a tight competitive game. The game started with Rangers going in front in the first couple of minutes when Jake Charlton headed in a Will Bickerton corner. Rangers continued to press and went two up when Ross Hamilton received the ball on the left and cut in and hit an unstoppable shot past the keeper. Stockton were now starting to get back in the match and were taking control of the midfield area and they were rewarded when they pulled a goal back before the break. Stockton equalised when hesitancy in the Rangers defence allowed a Stockton player to go through unchallenged. Rangers then stepped up a gear and a Kane Gamble shot was parried by the keeper and Danny Kay followed up to score the winning goal. Rangers keeper Matty Ellis made a fine block near the end as Stockton pushed forward and Jack Parker had a shot that just went wide for Rangers. Coel Young had a steady game for Rangers but the versatile Owen Rogers was awarded man of the match.


24/03/12

Middleton Rangers u13 qualified for the Challenge cup final at Middlesbroughs training ground at Rockcliffe for the second year running with a hard fought 3-1 victory over spirited local rivals Spraire Lads. The game was very tight at the start with Rangers only testing the Spraire keeper with long range efforts. Rangers went in front when a corner was only half cleared and man of the match Jake Charlton shot though a crowded box to score. Spraire were soon level when a corner was headed in by one of their attackers. Rangers were now starting to get a lot of possession and a lovely flowing move resulted in Jack Cooper finishing to put Rangers back in front. Rangers got a third goal just before half time when a Will Bickerton corner was brilliantly headed in by Kyle Lakin.There were further chances for Rangers in the second half but no further goals. This was a good team effort and well done lads for getting through to the cup final.


08/04/12

Middleton Rangers u13 played away at league leaders Tibbs B and came away with a fantastic 5-0 win. Rangers didn't let Tibbs get their foot on the ball and closed them down at every opportunity and it was no surprise when a Kane Gamble through ball was well finished by the running on Tom Snowden. Rangers were then awarded a penalty which Rhys King duly converted and scored a third when Kane Gamble blocked a clearance and then hit a screamer in the top corner. Rangers were now playing some excellent football and Jake Charlton thought he had scored when a 35 yard screamer hit the underside of the bar and came back out. Matty Ellis in the Rangers goal made a brave save when a Tibbs attacker broke through, but it was no surprise when man of the match Ross Hamilton went through and beat the keeper from the edge of the box to give Rangers a 4-0 half time lead. Rangers contained Tibbs well in the second half and Ross Hamilton again ran on to a through ball to score the fifth goal. There were also excellent performances from defenders Coel Young and Will Bickerton midfielders Tom Snowden and Jake Charlton and lone striker Kane Gamble.


15/04/12

Middleton Rangers u13 signed off their away fixtures with a 5-1 victory at Darlington Tsc. Rangers took a while to get into their stride against tough opposition but went ahead when a Rhys King corner was headed in by Kyle Lakin. Rangers went further ahead when Jake Charlton scored a superb individual goal when he beat three defenders before slotting it past the goalkeeper The second half started with Rangers testing the Tsc keeper from distance with the wind in their favour. Rangers used the wind to their advantage when a corner from man of the match Will Bickerton went straight in the back of the net. Kyle Lakin then scored Rangers fourth before a battling Tsc pulled a goal back. Jack Parker then rounded off a good all round team performance with a fifth goal.


29/04/12

Middleton Rangers u 13 clinched promotion for the third year running with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Skelton United. Rangers played against the wind in the first half but played some nice passing football and were rewarded when man of the match Kane Gamble neatly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper. Skelton came more into the game and they equalised just before half time. Rangers continued to play some neat football in the second half and Rhys King put them ahead when he was on hand to finish after a goal mouth scramble. Left winger Jack Cooper who had an excellent game on the left scored a third goal when he beat three defenders before slotting the ball home. Rangers came close to scoring a fourth before the end. This has been an excellent season for the lads who still have a cup final to look forward to at Middlesbrough's training ground on May 20th.
