Match Reports

Middleton Rangers Under 10 Girls were hosts to California Ladies Under 10's in the Tees Valley Girls league looking to extend their recent unbeaten run.
However a slow start enabled Cali to race into a two goal lead as the league leaders showed Rangers why they are top of the table, despite some good saves from Sasha O'Neil in goal which kept the score to 2-0 at half time.
The 2nd half was a totally different game as Rangers jigged the team around and found a way back into the game with a terrific Georgia Paylor free kick into the top corner. The game flowed end to end until a mazy run from Georgia ably supported by Bella Padurariu tore open Cali's defence and Georgia's shot flew in off the post. Now Rangers were totally in control as Jodie Friebel and Girl of the match Lauren Traynor shored up the defence allowing Georgia to brilliantly take on 3 defenders to slot home for a hat trick and 3 points to  Rangers.Final score Rangers 3 Cali 2.
Team: Sasha O'neil, Jodie Friebel, Lauren Traynor,Vicky Ward, Bella Padurariu, Georgia Paylor, Bella Sunderson-Darkes, Ffion Taylor-Garthwaite, Beth Friebel, Phillipa Willis & Caitlin Paylor.

Middleton Rangers Under 10's girls competed in the Wigginton, York Tournament on Bank HolidayMonday the 3rd May playing against Scarborough Ladies, Cramlington Blues, Poppleton Tigers of York and fellow Darlington side Spraire Lasses. With the two best placed group teams to contest the final around robin event then took place with all teams playing each other. Middleton kicked off looking to tame the Poppleton tigersbut despite plenty of chances couldn't find the net and the game ended goalless.Round two match saw them against fellow league team Spraire lasses who edged the game courtesy of a typical Hannah Robson stunning goal 1-0. Rangers were now struggling to qualify and needed to find form against a big Cramlington side, but fears were unfounded as they brushed aside their opponents with the biggest win of the day 2-0 thanks to great team goals from Georgia Paylor and Bella Padurariu.Their final game was a competitive match against Scarborough which ended in a stalemate 0-0.This however proved to be enough as all the last 3 games ended in draws and Middleton faced Spraire in the Final, looking to improve on last years semi final loss to the same team, however Spraire were the sharper team as the girls seemed to freeze and spraire ran out 2-0 winners with 2 great goals. Pictured are Georgia Paylor, Phillipa Willis, Bella Saunderson - Darkes, Bella Padurariu, Chloe Friebel, Neave Traynor, Megan Traynor, Jodie Friebel, Lauren Traynor, Vicky Ward and Bethany Friebel. The Girls are planning to create a new team for season10/11 and welcome any one interested in joining, particularly current School Years 3 to 6.Contact Sharon Watson for further information on 07766942627 or 01325 333493.

Middleton Rangers Under 10's Girls played their 2nd Cup Final of the week as they competed in the Tees valley Girls League Divisional Cup final at California Ladies Ground in South Bank, Middlesbrough.Meeting fellow division side Skelton United a tight game was anticipated and so it proved. Skelton started strongly but due to terrific defending from Lauren Traynor and Jodie Friebel only half chances werecreated in a great tense first half. The 2nd half was similar but as Middleton grew in confidence the game turned in their favour as Sasha, Georgiaand Bella got the better of their opponents resulting inGeorgia having the run of the game to go clear on goal only to be tripped up, resulting in a free kick on the edge of the box..The resulting kick going narrowly over the bar. As time was running out and extra time was looking a possibility a free kick was awarded to Skelton on the edge of Middleton's box and the shot found the bottom corner to win the match as despite all Rangers efforts they could not find anequaliser.
The whole team was given the Girl of the Match award for fantastic effort, highly commended by the Referee and all the League Officials that were in attendance. After the game the team was presented with a new match ball as reward forbeing League team of the month, well done Girls.
